SASLHA: Empowering your journey of Continuous Professional Development with accessible, expert-led online CPD courses, webinars, and resources—designed to help you excel every step of the way! CPD Requirements (Effective 13 December 2024): - Every practitioner must accumulate 30 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) per twelve-month period, with at least five units focusing on ethics, human rights, and medical law.
- Each CPD point is now valid for 12 months from the date of the activity. Practitioners are required to maintain the minimum balance of CPD points needed for one year by regularly topping up through additional CPD activities.
- Community service practitioners are exempted from CPD obligations.
- Non-clinical registered practitioners must also comply with CPD requirements in line with the set minimum standards.
CPD Compliance: The HPCSA has introduced a CPD Platform on its website for practitioners to upload the necessary evidence of compliance, such as CPD certificates, as required by Section 26 of the Health Professions Act (Act No 56 of 1974). - The practice of random sampling practitioners to verify compliance has been discontinued.
- As of February 2022, all service providers are required to submit an attendance register to the HPCSA for upload to the CPD portal. Practitioners will receive an email confirmation once their details are uploaded. Please note that SASLHA, as a CPD service provider, uploads all CEUs earned by attendees through our online articles, webinars, and events to the CPD Platform.
- Practitioners are strongly encouraged to request CPD certificates from service providers for their records.
- Practitioners can view or update their CPD status online via this link: HPCSA Online Portal.
Important: - SASLHA cannot guarantee the credentials of any CPD events or service providers not accredited by SASLHA.
