This workshop offers an exploration of the assessment and treatment of cognitive-communication impairments following right hemisphere stroke (RHS). The session will commence with a synthesis of findings from a systematic review (1970 – 2024) conducted by the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences - Right Hemisphere Stroke Writing Group, providing an evidence-based foundation for understanding the communication changes associated with RHS. Through case-based learning, participants will engage in discussion regarding: 1) characterising profiles of cognitive-communication disorder post-RHS; 2) assessment and treatment approaches for aprosodia; 3) the speech pathologist's contribution in the management of neglect dyslexia; and 4) the application of metacognitive strategy instruction to address impaired self-awareness in this population.
