ABSTRACT:

Objective: To build on the experiences of authors in the field of people with laryngectomy (PWL) and to seek to examine and explain research ethics considerations and how they impact research design, data collection, data analysis and dissemination.

Study sample: The authors utilized a framework which was based on the values underpinning the Australian National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research, respect, merit and integrity, justice and beneficence.

Results: The authors highlighted key issues within the areas of respect, merit and integrity, justice and beneficence as they pertain to research conducted within the PWL population.

Conclusion: This paper breaks new ground in discussing the ethical considerations and practical challenges relevant to researching.
